Crys' Toe Up Slippers

Crys’ Slipper Pattern
*This is by no means an original design. I have seen them a million times before and tried a few different versions. This is just my version, which is worked toe up and in the round until the heel area. Hope you like them. If there are any errors or questions you may have please let me know.*

5mm needle (5 DPN’s & straight/circular)
WW yarn (held double) Approx 10oz
Tapestry needle

Note: When slipping stitches always do so as if to purl.

Figure 8 Cast on 20sts (10sts each needle). Knit across first needle, knit through back loops on second needle.

kfb in first and last st on both needles (24 sts).

kfb in first and last st on both needles (28sts).

Work K1, P1 ribbing for 30 rounds.

K1, P1 to last 7sts. Turn and knit all (including the 7 you left unworked previously). This sets you up to work the heel part flat with the opening in the center.

For the next rows work flat in garter st slipping the first st purlwise on each row (to create a nicely finished top edge).

Work 15 rows as mentioned above. (I found it easier to continue working on DPN’s by dividing the stitches onto 2 dpn’s and then working the stitches with a third needle until I could comfortably use a small circular needle.)

Row 16-sl 1, k10, k2tog 3 times, k11

Row 17-sl 1, knit to end

Row 18-sl 1, k10, k3tog, k11

Rows 19&20-sl1, knit to end

Position stitches for grafting the heel closed by placing 12sts on back needle (the one that the yarn is coming from) and 11sts on the front needle. Graft (kitchener stitch) closed (pull through the remaining stitch as if to knit and drop off needle). You could bind off and sew the back seam up if you don’t like grafting…I just hate sewing seams so I prefer to do it this way.

Weave in the ends. Make second one in the same manner.
